What to do During AES Downtime
[Support Center Home]

In the event of AES mainframe downtime, a nationwide broadcast will be issued by the U.S. Census Bureau to the trade community.

AES filers may submit non-licensed shipments under the AES Downtime Policy during the outage and move the cargo under the AES Downtime citation. Once the AES is restored, all AES transactions for shipments that moved under the AES Downtime Policy must be filed along with any new shipments.

State Department Licensed shipments must be held until the AES is restored and AES Internal Transaction Number (ITN) is received.

If you utilize the AES Downtime Policy for export, please contact the port where you will export from.

Questions may be addressed to the U.S. Census Bureau's AES Branch at 800-549-0595, option 1.
